Witter dreams of unification fight

Junior Witter hopes beating Vivian Harris will lead to a world title unification
fight or a long-awaited showdown with old rival Ricky Hatton.

The WBC light-welterweight champion makes his second world title defence
against mandatory challenger Harris, of New York, at the The Dome at
Doncaster Lakeside on Friday, September 7.

The Hennessy Sports show in association with title partners
GoldenPalace.com will be screened live on Sky Sports and also features the
English Super-Flyweight Title fight between Robert Nelson and Andy Bell in an
all-Yorkshire encounter. Also in action is top domestic lightweight Lee Meager,
who meets Hungarian Laszlo Komjathi in an international ten round contest.

Witter holds the most respected world title but fighting his rival world
champions is something the Bradford boxer would like to do providing he
overcomes former WBA champion Harris.

“Hungry Peter Preparing for his Prey"

“Nigerian Nightmare”
reports to camp a full eight weeks
before his October 6 title challenge.

Mandatory #1 Heavyweight challenger Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter
has jumped through so many of boxing’s circus hoops and waited so long to
pounce on a heavyweight champion that he is already preparing diligently for
the hunt of his dreams. Finally scheduled to challenge WBC King Oleg
Maskaev on October 6 at Madison Square Garden, Peter began training a full
eight weeks in advance of his big day.

Promoter Dino Duva says a Samuel Peter this motivated and hungry is bad
news for Maskaev. “He reported to camp eight weeks before the fight. That
means you will see the best Sam Peter ever. A new heavyweight champion will
be crowned that night and God help Oleg Maskaev.”

In his previous outing, Peter turned in a career-best performance while
establishing his dominance over James Toney. Duva says he’s very
impressed by the devotion his young slugger is showing as he nears his
destiny. "When he fought James Toney in January, Samuel looked the best he’
s ever looked. That was because of a five-week training camp. At the time it
was his longest. Sam knows that the opportunity to challenge for the
heavyweight championship is the chance of a lifetime and he’s working harder
than he ever has to take home the belt.”

Kevin McBride’s Boston Press Conference Quotes

McBride: “It’s great having a manager like Jerry Quinn, who has been very good
to me, putting together my new team. Talk is cheap; seeing is believing. It’s
going to be an exciting fight with two big men in the ring. Fighting has been a
dream for me and it wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for Jerry Quinn. You’re
only as good as your last fight, but it was ill advised for me to fight, and now I’m
focused and hungry.

“Boxing is the toughest sport in the world. One punch can change a chapter.
When I land my big punch on Golota’s chin it’s going to be the next chapter for
me as I continue my dream of winning the biggest prize – the world
heavyweight title. I will be the first Ireland-born heavyweight champion of the
world. I accomplished my other two dreams in boxing: fighting in the Olympics
and fighting Mike Tyson. My father told me if I believed in myself and worked
hard I’d beat Tyson and I did. It was the greatest night of my life. I beat one
legend, Tyson, and met the biggest of all, Muhammad Ali, who told me I was
the latest and he was the greatest.

“I’m excited to be fighting in Madison Square Garden where all of the great
heavyweights have fought like Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano.

Witter's web war with Harris

After winning the web war with his mandatory challenger, Junior Witter is
confident of victory again when he defends his WBC Light-Welterweight Title
against Vivian Harris at the The Dome at Doncaster Lakeside on Friday, 7th

'The Hitter' makes his second world title defence against former WBA

with his opponent.

Witter (Bradford/Doncaster) claims he got the better of 'Vicious' Harris over the

former undisputed Light Heavyweight champion Antonio “The Magic Man”

FAMED FIGHTERS OSCAR DE LA HOYA AND SUGAR
RAY LEONARD MAKE IT PERSONAL WITH FRIENDLY
BET ON WINNERS OF SEPTEMBER 15
"FIREWORKS" FIGHT CARD

LOS ANGELES (September 4, 2007)–Famed pugilists Oscar De La Hoya and
Sugar Ray Leonard have made a "friendly" bet on two bouts between fighters
from their respective camps, making the September 15 "Fireworks" boxing
event, featuring Juan Manuel Marquez against Rocky Juarez in the main event
at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on pay-per-view, that much more
explosive.

In the first bout, and opening the pay-per-view telecast that evening, Francisco
"Panchito" Bojado will represent De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.  His
opponent Steve Forbes, will represent the Leonard-hosted 'The Contender'
Series, as runner-up from Contender Season Two.  In the other bout, Golden

JERMAIN TAYLOR SETS HIS SIGHTS ON SEPTEMBER
29TH FOR HIS SHOWDOWN WITH KELLY PAVLIK

"I'm expecting a lot of fireworks in the ring with Kelly Pavlik. This is my kind
of fight."

SCOTRUN, Pennsylvania,  September 4 - With just a little over 3 weeks
remaining World Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor has been enjoying
the peace and quiet he's finding in the mountains of Pennsylvania, where he's
training for his September 29th title defense against Kelly Pavlik at Borardwalk
Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

But what has Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KO's) most excited is the prospect of a slugfest
with hard-hitting Kelly Pavlik. Taylor relishes the opportunity to swap power
shots with the top-ranked contender in his showdown. The bout which is being
billed as "Throwback" is being promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in
association with Top Rank Inc.

I like Rocky Juarez but I think Marquez is the better fighter. Never count Rocky
out though because of his power. I didn't know that Ouma-Mora was made.
Good strong test for Sergio who I have always felt was a bit over rated. Ouma's
a former champ and a world class boxer. If Mora can beat him it will silence a
lot of his critics. I'm sticking with Ouma. Bojado-Forbes really gets my interest. I
always felt Bojado was a can't miss prospect but up to now I was wrong.
Forbes is a stern test for him . Bojado is strong and he hits hard but Forbes is
about as slick as they come. A real pro. I'm on the fence on this one.

Vitali should win but has the layoff hurt him ? McCline is no chump. If Jameel is
right it could be a very long night for Vitali. This has the makings of an upset.

Taylor-Pavlik? This has Fight Of The Year written all over it. Who's going to win?
I'm pulling for Kelly but this is a very difficult fight for both men. I can't wait to see

MARQUEZ INJURED, BOUT WITH JUAREZ OFF;
SEPTEMBER 15 PAY-PER-VIEW SHOW CANCELLED

LOS ANGELES, September 7 – Due to an injury suffered in training camp by
WBC Super Featherweight World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez, the
September 15 "Fireworks" Pay-Per-View show promoted by Golden Boy
Promotions and scheduled for MGM Grand in Las Vegas has been cancelled.

Marquez, who was scheduled to fight Rocky Juarez in the evening’s main event,
suffered a cut on his right hand which developed an infection.   As a result,
severe swelling occurred and forced him to withdraw from the bout.

“The safety of our fighters comes first and it’s too bad that Juan Manuel got hurt
after training so hard for this fight,” said Oscar de la Hoya, president of Golden
Boy Promotions.  “We are having him come to Los Angeles this weekend for
further evaluation and treatment by a specialist.”

Subsequently the entire show, which also was scheduled to feature Kassim
Ouma against Sergio Mora, the IBF world featherweight title bout between
Robert Guerrero and Martin Honorio as well as Francisco Bojado against Steve
Forbes, was cancelled.

De La Hoya continued, “We are committed to brining excellent shows to our
fans and with the unfortunate injury to Marquez, at this late stage our only option
was to call off the show.”
