| McCline to File Official Protest to WBC! WBC #9 rated contender Jameel McCline plans to file an official protest with the WBC later this week. "After watching the fight on tape, not only do I think I won, but I think that I would have stopped Peter if the referee (Mike Ortega) did not give him so much time to recover from the knockdowns in round three. Also, Judge Bill Costello had the fight 10-2 in rounds, which is absolutely ridiculous." As a result, McCline is going to petition the WBC to order an immediate rematch. According to manager Scott Hirsch, "this is no different to the first Peter/Toney match except that Jameel knocked Peter down three times and two judges had Toney behind by wider margins. It's not our goal to overturn the decision; it's simply to get a rematch where Jameel and Sam can settle this issue in the ring. We have a tremendous amount of respect for Jose Sulaiman and the WBC and will abide by any decision they make regarding this matter, but I have full confidence that the WBC will do the right thing." |

| Cauthen was knocked down and out by a massive head butt. Unfortunately, the referee didn't see the cause of the knockdown, and ruled it a TKO for Frank. This was the beginning of a vigorously contested battle outside the ring, going from the NYSAC to the NY State Supreme Court as both fighters battled for the victory ruling. Cauthen (32-3-1, 9KO), who was making his first defense of his title, was pitching a shutout on two of the scorecards (60-55) and was leading on the third card (59-55) when Frank bounced off the ropes catching Cauthen squarely on the chin with his head virtually knocking him out on his feet. After the bout, Team Cauthen protested the fight's outcome and a review and ultimately a hearing was setup at the NYSAC. The NYSAC reversed the initial TKO victory for Frank to a no-decision after NYSAC reviewed the television replay provided by HDNET at ringside and at the hearing at the NYSAC offices. The tape provided conclusive evidence of the head- butt by Frank, and was the basis of the ruling. The Frank camp appealed the determination of the NYSAC to the New York Supreme Court. New York Supreme Court Justice Walter Tolub signed the decision and order which upheld the determination by the NYSAC. |

| ANOTHER TKO RULING FOR STAR BOXING! NEW YORK SUPREME COURT ANNOUNCES NO-DECISION WILL STAND! |
| Bronx, NY - Oct 17, 2007 Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing announced today that the New York Supreme Court agreed with Star Boxing, Team Cauthen and the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) over the "no decision" ruling that reversed the original hotly contested controversial decision after the USBA Jr. Middleweight Title and #2 IBF ranking fight, between Raul Frank (27-5-3 13KO's) and Terrance Cauthen (32-3 9KO's). The fight, which took place on January 25, 2007 at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx, was seemingly headed to a certain Cauthen win when referee Ricky Gonzales stopped the fight 2:59 minutes into the seventh round after |

Sky Sports will televise live. Ticket sales for the event at the Nottingham Arena are already impressive and Froch, who is unbeaten in 21 fights with 17 KOs, is looking forward to fighting the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler as early as possible next year. He is in a great position with the WBC to be potentially made mandatory challenger for the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler after he destroyed highly-rated Russian Sergey Tatevosyan in two rounds in his last fight in March. | ROCKY JUAREZ: “ WE’RE BOTH PUNCHERS AND YOU’RE GOING TO SEE SOMETHING GREAT NOVEMBER 3” John Martinez - Boxingrealm.com (19Oct07) The year of 2007 has been good to boxing fans. In fact, it has been so good that picking Fight of the Year is proving to be difficult thus far and the year ain’t over yet. To name a few, we’ve witnessed Marquez/Vazquez I and II. Kelly Pavlik’s amazing takes no prisoner style. We have seen Nonito Donaire prove that Darchinyan can be dethroned. We watched as Cotto and Judah went to hell and back and lived to talk about it. All this and there are still more fights on tap in the coming weeks. One of those fights is for the WBC super featherweight championship on November 3rd. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING will play host to a double- header beginning at 10PM ET/PT featuring IBF featherweight titleholder Robert Guerrero vs. Martin Honorio in the preliminary bout. In the main event of the evening, WBC super featherweight king, Juan Manual Marquez will defend his crown against challenger Rocky Juarez. I spoke with Juarez about his upcoming assignment and he assured me that his fight would be in the mix for Fight of the Year honors. JM: Rock, you have been named as an opponent for WBA featherweight champion Chris John, IBF featherweight titlist Robert Guerrero, and now WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manual Marquez. Has it been difficult to focus mentally and physically due to all the changes in opponents? RJ: No. I think the best thing for me right now has just been getting ready for the title shot. You know, my promoters were telling me that I was going to fight Chris John and then it was Guerrero and now it’s Marquez. But I think overall Marquez is the bigger name out of all of them and I’m still fighting for a title and that gives me that extra boost to train even harder and get ready for November 3rd. (Oct. 19, 2007) – It was over almost before it started. In a stunning upset, T.J. Wilson captured the International Boxing Association (IBA) Continental Americas heavyweight title with an unpopular, controversial 15-second, first-round knockout over previously undefeated Travis Walker Friday in the main event on ShoBox: The New Generation. The amazing run of streaking, vastly improved Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez continued in the co-feature when he won his eighth in a row with a convincing, unanimous eight-round decision over previously unbeaten Omri Lowther in a good-action junior welterweight match. The doubleheader, held outside at Raley Field, was promoted by Duva Boxing in association with Goossen Tutor Promotions. It aired on SHOWTIME at 11 p. m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast). A mere seconds after the opening bell, Wilson backed Walker into a corner and began delivering punches with both hands. At least a couple connected solidly and seemed to stun Walker, who did not once attempt to retaliate, or even raise a glove. He did not land a punch. Read the Full Story..... |

In Harding's last fight, he knocked down WBC Light Heavyweight champion Chad Dawson in the first round en route to a close decision loss. The two have had a long history together, dating back to their "gym war" sparring sessions that bordered on bedlam. "We're both competitive guys," says George, 15-2-2 {7 KO?s}. "We had some words after our first session and he told me 'If we wore ten ounce gloves, I'd ice you.' Ever since then, I've wanted to fight him." George was originally preparing to fight Glen Johnson on November 3 when Johnson's opponent Anthony Hanshaw pulled out of their match. George was Read the Full Story..... |
