| THE WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION WORLD CHAMPIONS RUSLAN CHAGAEV AND JUAN DIAZ TO ATTEND BOXING WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA 82nd AWARDS DINNER FRIDAY, JUNE 8th / NEW YORK CITY JUNE 5th - The World Boxing Association (WBA) World Champions Ruslan Chagaev and Juan Diaz will be in attendance at the Boxing Writers Association of America 82nd Awards Dinner. The event will be held in New York City on Friday, June 8th at the Copacabana. Ruslan Chagaev became the WBA Heavyweight Champion last April 14th in Stuttgart, Germany, after achieving what appeared to be an impossible task beating the 7-foot Russian giant Nicolay Valuev. That night the " White Tyson" displayed a perfect strategy on the ring that gave him a historical victory. Juan Diaz is considered by many as one of the hottest fighters in the game. The "Baby Bull" was crowned the WBA Lightweight Champion in July 2004 after defeating Lakva Sim and now can count six successful defenses of the title, including a unification bout against then WBO champ Acelino Freitas, last April 28th. "It's exciting that great Champions like Juan and Ruslan will be joining us, the WBA officials, at the Boxing Writers Association of America 82nd Awards Dinner.
