Diaconu rated #1 by the WBC and #10 in the
world by “The Ring” Magazine

Montreal, Friday May 18th 2007 – Adrian « The Shark » Diaconu (24-0-0 15 K.-O.) served
notice to the boxing world last week, and in doing so has captured everyone’s attention. Fresh
off his 3rd round annihilation of American Rico Hoye (20-2-0 15 K.-O.) on May 9th at Studio Mel’s
in Montreal, Adrian now awaits his guaranteed WBC World Light Heavyweight title shot against
current champion Chad Dawson. “Where is Dawson? Bring him to me” stated a surprisingly
relaxed yet very confident Adrian Diaconu right after the victory.

With ESPN cameras rolling, Adrian offered up his most dominant ring performance ever. The
quantity of Internet and press articles throughout America raving about Adrian’s performance is
truly overwhelming, and very much deserved for the boxer who until May 9th lived in the
shadows of popular Montreal super middleweight Lucian Bute. In fact, this was Adrian’s first
ever Main Event and the least that can be said is that he made the most of the opportunity. The
bout was also carried live by TSN and RDS in Canada and in all approximately 600,000 viewers
witnessed a completely outclassed Hoye stumbling and bleeding profusely from his left eye,
courtesy of Diaconu’s riveting and accurate power shots to the head.

Adrian’s obliteration of Hoye also raised eyebrows with “The Ring” Magazine, who many boxing
insiders argue offer the most reputable independent rankings in the sport. Adrian now debuts at
the #10 spot of their world Light Heavyweight ratings.
Bute vs. Bika this June 15th 2007 at the Bell Centre

Lucian Bute (19-0-0, 16 KO) is currently training for the biggest fight of his career, an IBF Super
Middleweight Eliminator vs. Australian Sakio “The Scorpion” Bika (22-2-2, 14 KO) that will take
place Friday, June 15th 2007 at the Montreal Bell Centre. The bout will be aired by ESPN as part
of their popular “Friday Night Fights” series throughout the USA and will also be on PPV in
Canada.

Lucian Bute, now rated #6 by “The Ring” Magazine, has been a permanent fixture within their
ratings for an impressive 58 weeks in a row. Lucian will be looking to move up to the Top 5 or
better in the “The Ring” rankings with a victory over the Magazine’s #10 world rated Sakio Bika.
A victory over Bika will guarantee Bute an IBF World Super Middleweight title bout against
current champion Alejandro Berrio.
