Providence native Godfrey (16-0, 9 KOs), rated No. 2 by the World Boxing Council, takes on Williams (42-5-1, 35 KOs), fighting out of Long Beach (CA), in the 12-round main event. Godfrey also is rated No. 4 by the International Boxing Federation and No. 6 by the World Boxing Association. Read the Full Story..... |

| San Juan, Puerto Rico (November 2) – It’ s the fistic version of a daily double, and a distinction no other boxer has ever achieved, but yesterday at the World Boxing Organization (WBO) convention in Puerto Rico, Oscar de la Hoya was honored twice by the sanctioning body, both as “Fighter of The Decade” and “Promoter of The Year”. “It’s a great honor for me to accept these awards from the WBO, and I’m truly humbled by all of this,” said De La Hoya. “To be recognized for what I’ve done – in and out of the ring – has always been something I hoped would happen, and I thank the WBO for making that dream a reality.” Read the Full Story..... |

| TACOMA , Wash. (Nov. 3, 2007) – Going into Friday’s 100th telecast of ShoBox: The New Generation, there had been 22 boxers who’d appeared during the popular series’ distinguished six-year history that went on to capture world titles. That’s better than one every five shows. Two more victories and “Fast’’ Eddie Chambers could become the 23rd. Read the Full Story..... |

| HOLLYWOOD, FL - November 3, 2007 – If opponents of Edison Miranda thought that they had enough problems to deal with before, after ‘Pantera’s surgical destruction of veteran contender Henry Porras on October 30th, they now know that they’re dealing with a bigger, stronger, faster, and more dangerous fighter than ever before. That’s a frightening thought for Miranda's new peers at 168 pounds. Read the Full Story..... |
| RONNIE SHIELDS WEIGHS IN ON THE AFTERMATH OF JUAREZ/MARQUEZ, DIAZ/PACQUAIO, AND TRAINING JERMAIN TAYLOR Interview By: John Martinez / Boxing Realm (05Nov07) This past Saturday, contender Rocky Juarez lost his bid to wrestle the WBC super featherweight title from reigning champion, Juan Manual Marquez. Leading up to this fight, many pundits and fans alike gave Juarez very little chance if any to accomplish his mission to be the next champion. People said that he was either too slow, not polished enough, or strong enough to go twelve rounds with the Mexican national. I wonder if by losing the way Juarez did, going twelve rounds and not touching the canvass and never giving up, has he earned himself some respect in the eyes of the critics. I asked Ronnie Shields, Rock’s trainer, to assess his charge’s outing and what he thinks is next for the Houston fighter. JM: Ronnie, in your own words, please give us your thoughts on Rock’s outing against Marquez. Read the Full Interview..... |
| Mormeck vs. Haye Showdown This Saturday In Paris |
| WBC number one challenger David Haye has left true carnage in his wake on the climb to the top of the cruiserweight heap but the London slugger must now bring his vaunted power punching to bear upon the true world champion of the division, WBC and WBA Champion Jean-Marc Mormeck as the two clash this Saturday, November 10 on a Don King Productions promotion at Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan, Levallois-Perret, Paris, France. Mormeck, 33-3 (21), has savagely defended his position with wins over a superb list of challengers including Virgil Hill, Wayne Braithwaite, Dale Brown and Alexander Gurov while avenging the only loss on his record in the last ten years by defeating O'Neill Bell in a rematch this past March. | HOLLYWOOD, FL, November 5 – Following his impressive fifth round stoppage of veteran Henry Porras on October 30th, super middleweight contender Edison Miranda silenced any critics who questioned whether he would still be the same fighter at 168 pounds that he was at 160. One person he didn’t silence was fellow contender Jean Pascal, who made a spectacle out of himself in calling out Miranda from ringside and in the ring after the bout. “He’s got a lot of mouth,” said Miranda, now 29-2 with 25 KOs. “I’d like to see if he’s got the heart to match…but I doubt it.” The unbeaten Pascal, who is ranked second in the world by the WBO and fourth by the WBC, would be an intriguing match for ‘Pantera’, who would love to physically take the Haitian-born Canadian’s rankings from him in the ring. “Pascal was doing a lot of laughing on Tuesday. He will be crying, not laughing the next time I see him in a ring.” Pantera returned to Puerto Rico on Wednesday to watch WBO's Tournament of Champions at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. To his surprise Jean Pascal was also in the audience. “I hear someone talking loud and there is Jean running his mouth. I was surprised to see this clown actually followed me back to Puerto Rico.” The talking quickly turned ugly and both fighters tore off their shirts and got into each other’s face. Pantera had to be taken away by his people as the entire 5,000 people in the crowd chanted ‘PANTERA’. “He is crazy to want to fight me. If this fight ever happen I will wipe that grin off his face with one right hand. Go back to Canada Jean and make the fight worth while.” |

| Former champion Reggie Johnson battles former champion Glen Johnson in the "Fight Night for Climate Change" Pay-per-View extravaganza on November 17, from the Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana Before you laugh off former middleweight and light heavyweight champion "Sweet" Reggie Johnson's chances in his upcoming fight against Glen Johnson, you really need to speak to William Guthrie. In 1998, Reggie Johnson had boxed less than a round in three years when he signed to face then-IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Guthrie, who was an undefeated knockout artist with growing reputation as one of boxing's most powerful new champions. Guthrie left on a stretcher. Johnson left with a new belt around his waist. Read the Full Story..... |

| JEFF LACY RETURNS TO ACTION AGAINST PETER MANFREDO JR. ON MAYWEATHER VS. HATTON UNDERCARD ALSO IN ACTION DANIEL PONCE DE LEON DEFENDS HIS JR. FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST EDUARDO ESCOBEDO AND IN A REMATCH WES FERGUSEN BATTLES EDNER CHERRY ON “UNDEFEATED” SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8 AT MGM GRAND LIVE ON PAY-PER-VIEW |
| Manfredo Jr., WBO World Junior Featherweight Champion Daniel Ponce De Leon defends his crown against Eduardo Escobedo and rising star Wes Ferguson looks for payback in a rematch against Edner Cherry to put a perfect ending on the sweet science. “We’ve pulled out all the stops to make this card the event it should be,” said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. “There is no filler on this pay-per-view card, with each fight holding important implications for the winner and the loser. These are the fights I want to see as a fight fan.” “Mayweather Promotions is excited to be a part of this tremendous event,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO Mayweather Promotions. “We look forward to bringing boxing fans an end of the year show they will never forget.” Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, and sponsored by Rock Star Energy Drink, Tecate Beer and Southwest Airlines, “UNDEFEATED”, which is headlined by the welterweight championship bout between Mayweather and Hatton, will take place Saturday, Dec. 8 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per- View. In the main undercard bout, former world super middleweight champion Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy makes his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions banner and his first appearance since shoulder surgery last December when he takes on former world title challenger and a finalist from season one of ‘The Contender’, Peter Manfredo Jr., in a ten rounder. In a classic crossroads fight for both men, the winner goes on to a possible showdown with the elite of super middleweight or light heavyweight divisions, while the loser goes back to the drawing board. “I’m very excited that my first fight with Golden Boy Promotions will be on December 8th,” said Jeff Lacy. “I’ve been anxious to get back in the ring and this is the perfect night for my return after my injury.” “On behalf of ‘The Contender’ I would like to thank Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions for this great opportunity for Peter Manfredo Jr. to showcase his skills,” said Jeff Wald, Co-Executive Producer and Promoter for ‘The Contender’. “This is an important fight for both fighters and we are happy to be a part of what will surely be a great night of boxing.” A stellar amateur who compiled a record of 209-12 over a career that culminated in a trip to the 2000 Olympic Games, Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (22-1, 17 KO’s) has gone on to take the pro boxing world by storm with his concussive power, aggressive style and charismatic personality. The St. Petersburg, Florida native won the World Super Middleweight Title in just his 18th pro fight when he stopped Syd Vanderpool in eight rounds on October 2, 2004. Lacy defended his title four times before falling short via decision in a unification bout against Joe Calzaghe in March of 2006 on Calzaghe’s home turf in England. Undeterred, Lacy returned to the ring with a gritty decision win over Vitali Tsypko in December of 2006, but suffered a torn left rotator cuff in the bout. Now healthy and itching to get back into the ring, “Left Hook” is ready to wreck havoc on the 168-pound and 175-pound divisions. The pride of Providence, Rhode Island, 26-year-old Peter Manfredo Jr. (28-4, 13 KO’s), has been fighting since he was a child and he is still improving with every fight. Winner of his first 21 pro fights, Manfredo, a former NABO junior middleweight champion, became a star during his stint on season one of ‘The Contender’. Manfredo made it to the finals of the competition, only to lose a hard fought decision to Sergio Mora. Since then, Manfredo jumped up to 168 pounds and scored big wins over Scott Pemberton and Joe Spina before suffering a loss via controversial stoppage in a title bout against Joe Calzaghe in April. Manfredo bounced back quickly with two straight wins and is looking to make it three in a row against Lacy. Also featured on the December 8th card is a WBO junior featherweight title bout between hard-hitting champion Daniel Ponce De Leon and challenger Eduardo Escobedo. Perhaps the most talked about young champion in the lower weight classes, Daniel Ponce De Leon (33-1, 30 KO’s) is a former Mexican Olympian who has developed into a dangerous fighter with power in both fists and a solid champion in one of boxing’s most competitive divisions. A world champion since 2005, De Leon has defended his crown five times, most recently with an impressive first round TKO of previously unbeaten Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista on August 11th in a bout televised by HBO. In his last fight, a non-title bout, De Leon kept busy with a fifth round knockout of Reynaldo Lopez on September 28th. Mexico City native who now makes his home in Jarrell, Texas, 23-year-old Eduardo Escobedo (20-2, 14 KO’s) is eager to take advantage of the opportunity of a lifetime on December 8th. A six-year pro with impressive power, Escobedo has won seven fights in a row and is currently riding a three fight knockout streak that includes KO’s of well regarded fighters such as Edel Ruiz and Jose Mendoza. Opening up the pay-per-view telecast is a 10-round rematch between highly- touted lightweight prospects Wes Ferguson and Edner Cherry. The 22-year-old Ferguson (17-2-1, 5 KO’s), a prot駩 of headliner Floyd Mayweather, is known by the nickname of “Wicked” for his impressive boxing skills. Cherry (22-5, 10 KO’ s) owns the moniker “Cherry Bomb” for his ability to explode on opponents and end fights with one punch. In June, the two met for the first time and Cherry emerged victorious via a hard fought ten-round decision, snapping Ferguson’s seven fight winning streak. On December 8th, the Las Vegan looks for revenge. Closed circuit tickets, priced at $50, are still available and can be purchased at MGM Mirage properties’ box office outlets or by phone with a major credit card at 866-799-7711. For MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay venues, tickets also are available by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 702-474-4000.
