| PANTERA'S BACK ON OCTOBER 30TH McGirt's Homecoming and Cuban Olympian's Pro Debuts also featured... HOLLYWOOD, FL , September 24 – One of boxing’s most exciting young warriors, Edison Miranda has captured the hearts of the fight world since his United States debut in 2005. Now, on Tuesday, October 30th, at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, ‘Pantera’ begins his long-awaited assault on the super middleweight division when he takes on Henry Porras. “I’m rested, ready, and I can’t wait to get back into the ring on October 30th,” said Miranda, who will be in action for the first time since a hard-fought May defeat to Kelly Pavlik in his final bout at 160 pounds. “I promise the fans that I will be better than ever when I fight Porras, and I will win by knockout.” Miranda-Porras, a 10 round super middleweight bout, headlines a hard-hitting night of world-class boxing presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing and DiBella Entertainiment, in association with Arena Box Promotions and the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Tickets, priced at $152, $102, $52, and $27, go on sale today, and may be purchased at the Hard Rock Live Box Office and all TicketMaster Outlets. A hellacious puncher with both hands who knows only one direction – forward – Edison Miranda (28-2, 24 KOs) established himself as a fighter to watch almost immediately upon his arrival in the United States from Colombia in 2005 with wins over Howard Eastman, Willie Gibbs, and Allan Green. And though he suffered a disappointing loss to Pavlik and an outright robbery against Arthur Abraham at 160, now at 168 pounds he is stronger and better than ever and ready to assault the elite in the super middleweight division. Costa Rica’s Henry Porras (33-6-1, 25 KOs) has been a perennial contender at super middleweight since 2001. In that time, he has been in with the likes of Mikkel Kessler, Danilo Haussler, Juergen Braehmer, and Carl Froch. Winner of three in a row, all by knockout, Porras plans on spoiling Miranda’s comeback. In the eight round co-feature, super middleweight prospect and Vero Beach native James ‘Buddy’ McGirt Jr. (16-0, 9 KOs) will return to fight in Florida for the first time in two years as he looks to improve on his stellar unbeaten record against an opponent to be determined. Florida’s Cuban community is also encouraged to turn out to support two of their own, as former Olympic Gold medalists Yan Barthelmy (2-0) and Yuriorkis Gamboa (4-0, 3 KOs) make their US professional debuts on October 30th, with featherweight Barthelmy taking on Alejandro Moreno (23-23-3, 10 KOs) in a six rounder, and junior lightweight Gamboa squaring off against an opponent to be announced. Additional bouts on the October 30th undercard will feature a star-studded lineup of rising stars and established contenders. All bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30pm and the first bout is at 7: 30pm. For more information on Seminole Warrior’s Boxing, please visit our website at www.warriorsboxing.com |
